Lore Questions, Dimensional Laws
Beware, Very possible spoilers.
Who is Vincent Fictus?
(Vincentius means conqueror, Fictus meaning false or fiction.)
Vincentius, or Vincent Fictus, was once a normal man from the regular dimension as a human. He was previously a senator of the state of New York from the 1950’s, and a greedy one at that. He didn’t care about laws or justice, he desired having control over something.
Why is the Abussos a desert with one city and halloween stuff?
Vincent, being its creator, loved halloween stuff--the jack o’ lantern his favorite thing. He was obsessed with sweets and salty food, and loved the New York city atmosphere. As for it being a desert, he couldn’t control that, but it did make things worse for the ones who had to survive its harshness (something he was cool with because he’s a crazy bad guy.)
What was Vincent’s sin?
Vengeance is his sin. The New York senate (1920's) noticed Vincent’s love for money and control, kicking him out. At the same time, some of them agreed to send part of the mafia to assassinate him. They tried to kill him, but without success. For revenge, Vincent attacked with dual shotguns (what he uses in the Abussos) and burned the whole building down, him with it.

How did the Abussos come to be?
When Vincent died, his soul went to Hell. Of course, being a strategic politician that tried to get his way with whatever he wanted, he asked to speak with the Devil. The Devil was intrigued, so he allowed it.
Insisting he had his own special place, the Devil told him no. But as a deal, which if accepted by the Devil cannot be broken, he suggested a game of russian roulette. The Devil liked the idea, knowing no one could ever beat him at that game. For extreme play, he would only do it if it was with two guns, not one. Vincent, being the crazy man, accepted.
If the Devil won, he would receive Vincent’s soul. If Vincent won, he would obtain his own realm, where he could live in eternal luxury. People, just like Vincent (sinners with good intentions) would go here after dying. The world would be similar to New York City with diners and Halloween inspired things. The only thing that could not be agreed upon were the dimension's rules, something not even the Devil could change.
Of course, and surprising to the Devil, Vincent won. He would have lost if both guns hadn’t shot the Devil, yet one still blew off part of his head. In fairness, one shot beat two, leaving the Devil without Vincent’s tasty soul and him a place of eternal game and fun. You could say he would "wanna' be god."
So people with pumpkin heads...?
Yes. Because of Vincent. And because pumpkins are awesome, are they not?
What do sinners with good intentions see first?
A satanic amusement park, where “Ticket” Thanatos is met at the “ticket” stand. People become Embers when they “ticket” their soul away. They are guided to a rollercoaster where the will have a fun journey down through a portal to the Abyss. Weeee!
What happens when Embers die?
They become Hollows, soulless Embers that are dumb zombies and serve "King Vincentius."

How does food work in the Abussos?
Food never expires. Embers feel hunger, sometimes the pain driving them to insanity, but they can survive without it if need be. Food can be found in random places, but mostly at Red’s diner/malt shop... for now.
How does karma affect Embers?
Good karma means helping Embers, destroying nothing, stealing nothing, sharing, having no bad attitudes... Killing hollows are okay, because it’s defense. ...Right? Having bad karma may just get your soul sold immediately. Say it's better for the Devil's market.
How much can Embers and Hollows take in combat?
They can survive with missing pieces of their head, sometimes even missing their head. If they are missing a head, their internal flame is exposed with a side of sad floating eyes. Hollows can take more projectiles than Embers, but their head is a major weakness.
